Barbara Davis Berryhill

Barbara Davis Berryhill, of Charlotte, North Carolina, joyfully and peacefully went home to be with Jesus on August 22, 2026, aged 91.

Barbara, a native Charlottean, was born January 7, 1935, to the late James B. Davis and Evelyn Terry Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her high school sweetheart and husband of over 65 years Lewis David Berryhill, Jr.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was known for always having a smile on her face and for the warmth and kindness she shared with her friends far and wide. She loved to travel and marvel at the wonders of our natural world with her husband and friends.

She lived a life of service and devotion to her community. She graduated from Women’s College (now UNC-Greensboro) in 1957 and was an elementary school teacher. After starting a family she began a life of service to the community. She was a Ruling Elder at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School there for over 50 years, Served as Co-President of the Winterfield PTA (along with her husband David), served as a Girl Scout Leader for six years, served on the Board of Directors of the Hornets Nest Girl Scout Council, served on the Board of Directors of United Way of the Carolinas and was instrumental in creating the Domestic Violence Council for Women and the Women’s Shelter in Charlotte.

Above all, Barbara loved her family. She is survived by two daughters, Beth Cameron, and Leigh Wall (Keith), all of Charlotte; sister, Doris Hill of Ohio; four grandchildren, Rachel Rydberg (Michael), Anna O’Bannon (Brian), Ashley Gamisheva (Zlatin), Thomas Warren; and five great-grandchildren. Barbara also leaves behind a large extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jason Robbins officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
The family will receive friends inside the church narthex following the service.
